Well I started off the night looking at the steering box trying to get it apart.  I pulled the worm gear out pulled the pitman arm off and and removed that gear/shaft as well.

After this I started studying the box to make sure where to tapp.  My buddy TNRanger showed up to lend his expertise. After some evaluation we decided to shave the hump off the front part of the box and tapp it there. After drilling and tapping there we went to tap the other side of the box.  We selected our location on the right side of the box and went for it.  Boy did we get lucky, if we would have moved back towards the worm gear section anymore we wouldn't have been able to tighten the 90* fitting down.  After that we Tapped both holes and cleaned the box using brake cleaner, rags and air.

Next we got some locktight and proceded to thread the fittings into the holes. Once that was complete we re-mounted the box and routed the houses and secured them to the frame so the wouldn't interfere with the Alternator etc.

One thing I would have done a little different is change the location of the tapps so they didn't interfere with the pump lines and the Alt.  The top Tapp could be done farther towards the rear and have better clearance and the side Tapp could be done on the back side of the Box and routed down between the frame and the box which might have worked well.

Thats it for tonight.

Here are the Pics.

Here is the clamp we used to get the lines attached to the frame. Otherwise they were going to hit the alt belt/pully and could get damaged.. Its still pretty close so I'm buying 2 1/4 NPT plugs to if something does happen I can just close up the box to get off the trail.dscn1487.jpg

Thanks!
