Winter Upgrades etc

Well I've decided to make a few changes. I've been disappointed with the 22r from day 1. It just doesn't have the torque I want for the wet weather wheeling and muddy hill climbs. So I'm dropping in a 4.3 and a th350 trans mated to the Toy cases.

Swapping Motors Night 1

Well I picked up a new motor on tuesday so I after all the issue's I've had with this one being so week I decided to swap it out. Since my wife is out of town for wed-thur night I figured just go for it. So a bunch of people showed up and we tore into it. We removed the worn down 22r while some others stripped all the junk I don't need off the replacement. At the end of the night we had the replacement bolted back to the trans ready for motor mounts, intake, exhaust, plumbing and electrical to be hooked back up. Tonight I plan on finishing all that stuff.

Panels printed and installed

Well I worked with Express signs and got the panels printed.. They do awesome work.. I second guessed my measurements and at the last minute upsized the image by 2" width which turned out putting some of the lettering off but I can live with that right now. After these get destroyed I will redo the panels and get some more printed :). I also made some outer floors so my feet wouldn't fall out the sides...

Clutch MC replaced and some side panels cut.

Well tonight I put a new clutch MC in the buggy and man it seems so much more responsive. I haven't driven it yet but it seems better and actually throws the slave cylinder all the way back like its supposed to.. Hopefully that bug is gone for good now. I also cut some aluminum panels for the sides :) I just need to cut out foot steps so I can still climb in the thing. I've also turned the blades on this fan around so its setup as a pusher now but I'm also going to order a 14" pusher fan for those hot summer days.

Testing in Harlan successfull

Took the rig to Harlan this weekend for the IAJ ride in Harlan. It did good. We ran Pinball, Lower RG, Lower Damnation, railbed and Attempted mason jar. It was slick Muddy and Cold. Over all it did well. I have to replace the clutch MC and get a little more sheet metal on it for some more protection from the elements.

Riding on the farm

Dad and I did a little riding on the farm today to test the rigs. There was on old logging road that has about 15 years of growth on it. That didn't stop us, we just did some trail blazing opening the trail back up. Anyway the Ftoy ran pretty good and had some idling issues over time. As the engine would warm up the idle would advance quite a bit so I have some issues to work out there. The suspension did really well but I do have a few adjustments to make. The rear shocks need to be moved up some to allow for a tad more up-travel so the bump stops can do their job. Anyway the ride went well but dad did take a little sheet metal damage.
