Brakes lines, Stearing box and propane tanks. Minimize

Saturday I ran the brake lines down the passenger side and drilled and tapped the bolt holes in the frame that hold the lines in place. Then I tore the steering box down for the drill/tap process. Sunday I started working on the mounts for the propane tanks. I wanted some cargo area in the back and wanted to keep the rear seat area open for some seats. I also wanted it to be pretty easy for myself to change out the tanks without having to lean my back over the side and lift the tank straight over the side bars, so the result I came up with seems to accomplish all those goals.

New propane Tank.

Setup the steering box on the drill press.

Top channel drilled and tapped

Side drilled and tapped. I had to do this side instead of the "A" because that fitting on the front would've been in danger of being hit by rocks or trees etc since it was right out front.

Brake lines ran across the front of the firewall.

Here is my solution for mounting the tanks. The tank will simply sit in the two rails and have a set of straps to hold it in place.

Almost matches the lines of the chassis :)

Tank mounted. It goes to far down into the rear hoop.

So I had to make a bottom point to stop it.

Bottom stop in detail here.

Did the job.

Here I put some 1" sq tubing across the back to support the rear flooring and add some strength to the rear winch mount. 2 birds 1 stone type of deal.

How the rig looked after this weekend.

Incomplete Todo list:

  • Install my proportioning valve
  • Run a line for the propane tank from the rear to the front.
  • Clevis mount for a D-Ring for the rear winch.
  • Mount battery box
  • Flooring
  • Cut the belly skid a little for the traction bar
  • Seat belt attachment points
  • Firewall sheetmetal
  • Propane to 22r adapter plate
  • Gas pedal mount
  • Dash with new panels
  • Wiring
  • Buy some brake lights and head lights.
  • Install ARP studs when they get here from FROR.
  • Build front and rear driveshafts.
  • Fluids and grease
  • Adjust the front low range box so it doesn't interfear with the trans shifter.
  • Paint it.
  • Bold all the misc stuff on.
  • Figure out how to start it

Wow big list but nothing compared to what it was just a month ago. :)

Thanks for looking
