I got a 1700lb winch from TSC tonight and built a cross member with some scab plates on the ends to mount in the rear of the frame above the axle. I cut some 1/4" plate and drilled holes to match the pattern for the winch and welded it to the cross member. Then I started on the rear hoop to tie the chassis into the frame on the back. Made the rear hoop 41" outside to outside and then I made some 1" tall supports to make up the space at to bottom. Then I welded it in as well as finished welding the rear cross member in on the topside.
1700 lbs warn utility winch.

Took these and cut them in half for the scab plates.

Winch crossmember with plate welded on.

As you can see the scab plates are welded on the ends.

Another view.

Another.

Winch fits.

Winch crossmember welded in.

winch on the crossmember hooked to rear axle.

I hooked a battery charger to the winch and did a test pull with it and it pulled the rear axle down very well.

Rear hoop ready to weld together. Bendtech makes things line up perfect.. I had zero tube waste.

Full view of rear hoop.

Notched some scrap tubbing from the smaller front hoop i cut up yesterday for the front shock mounts.

Then cut them down to 1"

Attached the rear hoop.

Thats it for tonight.. I'm pretty happy with the look of it and think with round lights and sheet metal in the rear it will look good.
Next is finish the upper mounts for the shocks Front and Rear, build the traction bar and tap the steering box for the hydro assist. Mabye wednesday I will get that done.
Thanks for looking.
