Well last night was a long night. I did get the hydro assist completed. Its a good thing i'm a programmer and not a fabricator because I would not make money. It took me way to long to get this done. Anyway onto the details.
This was the tab pattern for one of the tabs to go on the diff cover.

Here are the tabs finished. I beleved the edges of the ones for the diff so i could get good penetration on the welds using a fillet weld.

The Bevel mentioned above

I countored the mounts for the TieRod so I could get a good bead all the way around.

Crane diff cover before mod.

Diff cover paint removed ready for welding.

Tabs welded I had to clearance the tabls so the ram wouldn't bind on them. I also made a bushing to push the ram towards the top tab.

Welding the tabs to the tierod.

Bead all the way around.

Ram installed and ready for action. In this shot I had already bled the system. Notice I painted the diff cover black.

Another angle

Yet another.

In use on the trail.

The new doesnt last long!.. Bumpus is a muddy trail

Impressions.

The mod is awesome and I learned alot about hydraulics and steering boxes.
-
The upside is easier steering and less binding of the steering
-
The downside is its a tad slow at first but if you start turning the wheel slowly (not super slow just normal) then the ram will start to help push. If you just start turning the wheel really quick then the worm gear in he box is doing all the work and you will notice the ram isn't helping. so if you slow down just a tad the ram will catch up and give you a "push/pull"
I am very pleased and glad I did his on my own rather than trying to get a kit. Saved lots of money and learned lots.
